If Matrix advertises this "new version" with anything other than new graphics and play editor, they are going to drop down a few more notches in my mind.

ShaneTheMaster 08-31-2007 10:16 PM

Actually, I still have an old reg number from when I originally purchased the game. Might have to post some screenshots once it comes out. Y'all just have to see the inflatable helmets!

DaddyTorgo 08-31-2007 10:17 PM

i'm frankly surprised that matrix hasn't washed their hands of this at this point

ShaneTheMaster 08-31-2007 10:30 PM

As you can see, I customized the game to play 3 on 3:

This thread is like a long lost friend suddenly showing up for a visit.

Every time it appears on the front page I smile and shed a little tear.

I do not know what to say anymore. Seriously, this guy has to be the new White House spokesman. Tony Snow has nothing on this guy.

After discussions with David Heath of Matrix, we've decided to change that. This version will officially be called Maximum-Football 2.0.

*snip*

Keeping the game named Maximum-Football 1.5 would simply be seen as a patch. What you'll be getting is far, far more than just a patch. It is, for all practical purposes, a brand new game. We felt that leaving the game named in a 'patch' way, would undermine the great efforts put forth by everyone involved.

*snip*

And that is why, Maximum-Football 2.0 is still going to be a free update to anyone that has purchased any flavour of version 1.

So it's a patch. Got it.

Neon_Chaos 08-31-2007 11:02 PM

This 2.0 version is spectacular news.

As I said, I've been saying that 'the next version will have those'. We'll, this is being advertised now as 'the next version', but I'm afraid those features I just mentioned will not be included.

...

What you will be getting is a better graphics experience, better game play, and better animations. Along with a few new features requested by the game community.

So...while I've promised some concrete & quantifiable features for the "next version", I'll go ahead & (once again) not deliver on that promise and just deliver a new version with some impossible to quantify features like "better graphics" & "animations'.

At this point, those are the least requested new "features" from the community, however, it is the easiest way for me to do very little(or perhaps nothing) & still not get my contract terminated by Matrix.

stevew 09-01-2007 07:37 AM

With All Pro Football 2k8 out there, there is no real reason for Maximum Football to continue to exist.

Except for comedy i suppose.

Well it's more than a patch. It's a patch with a misleading name in an attempt to generate more revenue! :D

Yup, and I'll bet that it was all Matrix's idea (Daivd pretty much says so in his post).

As long as the story keeps going and we keep having some entertainment, let them keep fueling the flames. :)

Is this a free upgrade? Or is it called Maximum Foosball 2 just so he can charge people again?

No...its a free upgrade to existing customers. However, they are just calling it MF2 just to draw in more suckers who were waiting for things like an actual schedule and an assortment of front office functions. I am so curious to see how Matrix is going to advertise it.

Hey guys, I do come to this website to keep up to date on FOF, and I do read this thread from time to time.

I don't post much, because it really isn't worth my time to do it. This thread is often counterproductive.

Anyway, I would like to note a few things that should answer some questions that came up here:

Maximum Football 1.x uses DirectX 8, Maximum Football 2.x uses DirectX 9

The game engine for Maximum Football 2.x has been changed, so a lot of code had to be rewritten.

Maximum Football 2.x will run on Windows XP and Vista. 1.x ran on 98se and XP.

Because of the changes above, the game was named Maximum Football 2 rather than just Maximum Football 1.5.

It isn't like Madden goes through huge changes from year to year with its updated title. It makes sense for Maximum Football to go to 2.x

As any members here that are also on the Matrix Games board know, I find constructive criticism and feedback to be of value. If you really want changes that would make Maximum Football a better game, as some of you have stated, then it would be a good idea to voice them on the Matrix Games board rather than just mock Maximum Football here.

I don't work for Matrix Games, and I push for game features like no other, but I understand the limitations of the project as well. It is easy to go around trashing other people's efforts, but that doesn't get much constructive work done.

rkmsuf 09-24-2007 01:04 PM

It's funnier if the game sucks.

Thank you.

Maximum Football 2.0 is over-rated. Version 1.X was the bomb.

How Jennfier doing?

Antmeister 09-24-2007 01:36 PM

Seriously, someone must have an axe to grind with the developer or is trying to light a fire under his butt to get the features he wants. Why wouldn't he have started a new thread on this, instead of contributing to something he believes is counter productive?

Plus he tried this a while back and said he was open to questions only to never come back again. What is going on here?

I just get the feeling that Marauders would secretly hate for this thread to die and is afraid to admit it.

MJ4H 09-24-2007 01:49 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if he was a sock puppet of someone here that doesn't want the thread to die.

That's cool though cause it worked.

(im only kidding)

It's hilarious that there are instantly nearly 20 people reading this thread.

JPhillips 09-24-2007 01:50 PM

Marauders: Any screenshots of current stats? As a number of us have stated, if this game is generating realistic stats in single player you'll probably get a number of new sales.

From the new games forum description for MF 2.0

Quote:

Maximum-Football 2.0 is the latest and greatest release from the acclaimed sports management video game studio, Wintervalley Software. Bringing a whole host of new features like full Xbox 360 controller support, full DirectX 9.0 utilization, and scores of other upgrades and improvements, Maximum-Football 2.0 delivers on gameplay and fun like a bullet pass through double coverage. I have absolutely no fucking clue when the next version will be released, but I decided to talk about it anyways.

All that stuff I've been telling you guys? Yeah, it was a bunch of horseshit.

This game is so fucked up that when we make improvements, it's hard to determine if those improvements constitude an update or a whole new version. We're calling it 2.0 to swindle all you suckers into thinking it's a whole new game.

We spent way too much time arguing over this instead of working on new features for the game.

Please don't throw stuff at me, but I'm about to piss you off.

Even though we decided to call this a whole new version, we're adding fewer features than we promised when it was only gonna be 1.5. No, that doesn't make any sense, but this version is such a shitty deal that we're not going to even try and sell it to the suckers who were stupid enough to buy it the first time around.

You'll be dazzled by the new graphics, the improved game play, and uh, new graphics! No I did not at all repeat two of the improvements.

You guys need toilet paper? Let me know and I can send you some.

Hope you idiots can still find the website.

I shouldn't have even opened up the thread, but I'm glad I did, LMFAO:D . I'm just glad the wife is at work otherwise she'd be wondering why I was sitting here at the computer with tears running down my cheeks.

JPhillips 09-24-2007 01:58 PM

By surfing the Matrix forums I've discovered that there are hard limits on yardage in the quick sim engine.

Maximum run = 19 yards
Maximum pass = 41 yards

But those can be customized.
