Yeah, Silver has actually come out of this looking well. He's the only pollster who kept saying Trump had a legit chance to win this.

In fact, a bunch of people trashed him for giving Trump a chance to win. Huffington Post (yes I know they're a joke) had Clinton at 99% to win and trashed him here.

CNN guy is crying on the air now.

I understand his passion. I get it 100%. But this network wouldn't have allowed a Romney supporter to have done that. It's the exact reason why the result happened tonight. Stop talking down to people. Just stop it.

I know it sucks, but 50+ million people spoke tonight and just because you didn't like their message doesn't mean that you should slam all of them.

Quick edit: please note I said that doesn't mean you "should" slam all of them, not that you "don't have the right" to slam all of them. He has every right to say his peace.

PilotMan 11-09-2016 12:51 AM

Clinton is projected to win the popular vote by approx 1%.

CNN hired Corey Lewandowski who had signed a contract with Trump stating he would not say anything negative about him or his campaign.

You can be impeached for whatever reason the House of Representatives wants to impeach you for. It's a political issue.

Hillary isn't gaining any ground in Michigan either. She got it neck and neck for a bit, but has been steadily at ~50k behind. Detroit is mostly in. Washtenaw County is still only at 15%, but gains there could be canceled out by the rural areas still left to report.

Looking more and more like PA is going to be the winning state.

Edward64 11-09-2016 12:57 AM

Hah, Rachel just said Donald looks likely to win.

If you're a longterm guy like you say, then you already know the answer to this. The index and stocks in general will bounce back and move up over time. This has been a very consistent fact of the stock market for its entire history.

Yeah, that Sam Wang guy from Princeton will dissapear too. (PS great response from Silver on Twitter to that article.)

CNN anchors are losing it tonight. They're also weirdly late to call states it seems.

Rachel Maddow was basically taking people to task for voting Johnson moments ago, that the anti-Trumpers who voted for him made Trump president instead. Fuck that. Vote for who you want to win.

Mizzou B-ball fan 11-09-2016 12:59 AM

Lost in all of this is that we definitely selected the better of the two main options for First Lady in this election.

Rust belt crushed her. Just lost by too wide of a margin with working class people. Thought I saw that Obama lost by 9 in that category and Hillary will lose by 20 in it. That's how Ohio and Pennsylvania swings the other way.

My feelings about CNN are well known here. But I absolutely will not criticize them for being slower than the others (assuming amount of data is equal of course).

I have an ENORMOUS sense of FXNC in particular being overly aggressive with calls tonight. And that's a dangerous f'n game. It's downright manipulative IMO. If they have to reverse themselves on a bad call, it's fodder for weeks about conspiracy theories, and even if there were outright shenanigans that took place, they'd have still be wrong to be too far out in front IMO.

MrBug708 11-09-2016 01:01 AM

So apparently Hilary's slogan was "Stronger Together". I had no idea as I thought it was I'm with her. That explains a disconnect she had with voters.

It's a little deeper than that. If that were the bottom line the House could simply force the President to bow for whatever they wanted.

Warhammer 11-09-2016 01:08 AM

Actually the Maine 2nd congressional district could decide it.

JonInMiddleGA 11-09-2016 01:10 AM

fwiw (for some of my Georgia friends this will make more sense) ... WSB-AM veteran political reporter Jamie Dupree just tweeted "President-elect Donald J. Trump".

Dupree is not known for rash pronouncements.

TroyF 11-09-2016 01:11 AM

This clown on CNN continues to cry like a 5 year old. Stop crying. This is the same damned thing you said about Trump before the election and how did that work for you exactly?

You think it might be time to change a little?

Scarecrow 11-09-2016 01:12 AM

Still possible for a tie:

Trump takes Arizona + Alaska + ME2 = 269

Yeah.

I mean, technically she has a chance, but at this point she has to run the table in at least four states where she's losing.

Not likely.

Clinton celebration venue has a lot of empty spots.

PilotMan 11-09-2016 01:23 AM

So what happens when Trump has to either backtrack on his pie in the sky promises, abandons the poor, white worker, or can't build a wall? Will his supporters be understanding? Or will they turn on him?

He just needs to keep the scapegoats effectively in the crosshairs

Mizzou B-ball fan 11-09-2016 01:27 AM

Hilarious stuff on Fox News. The people making the calls in the war room said that the Missouri Senate race (which would clinch a majority for the GOP in the senate) was still too close to call. Karl Rove chimed in and just noted that the Dem. candidate just conceded the race to Blunt. War room still refusing to call the race.

Scarecrow 11-09-2016 01:28 AM

I think the Fox War Room is more concerned about keeping viewers, than finishing this off.

Which, looking at history, he has a knack for doing.

Will Trump divest himself from his business as President? Unlikely.

His business ties with foreign governments have the potential to put him in a position to both use the clout of the US to increase his businesses, protect his own dealings by sheltering them within his businesses if he doesn't, or subjugate the interests of the US for his own business.

These are questions that no president has ever had to answer. No public has ever had to ponder, and they have far reaching, deep consequences.

EagleFan 11-09-2016 01:38 AM

Okay, this is getting late. I want to get some sleep but I want to see how this plays out.

Ben E Lou 11-09-2016 01:39 AM

AP calling PA for DJT.

EagleFan 11-09-2016 01:40 AM

Big swing in the PA Senate race. Toomey giving victory speech now; about 3 hours ago talk was about when he would concede.

Mizzou B-ball fan 11-09-2016 01:43 AM

LOL. Brit Hume is even getting frustrated with the Fox News war room. You could just hear him mumbling 'even the AP has called Pennsylvania' into his mic while Juan Williams was talking.

RainMaker 11-09-2016 01:44 AM

It's been over for awhile, just not officially.

EagleFan 11-09-2016 01:45 AM

So FNC called Wisconsin a couple hours ago and no one else has but everyone else has called PA except FNC...

Buccaneer 11-09-2016 01:47 AM

I just got done watching a long movie and had not seen any results since nearly 4 hours ago. I was wrong and I have been wrong since the beginning of the year. I just don't understand.

RainMaker 11-09-2016 01:47 AM

This is the kind of stuff that I think cost Clinton and the Democrats the election. When you divide everyone, don't be surprised when the majority wins out.

wustin 11-09-2016 01:52 AM

Jesus christ Trump is gonna get 300. Hillary had like 5-1 odds this morning.

Poor form if true. The people who showed up to the event deserve to have her speak, even if she's not conceding quite yet.

wustin 11-09-2016 01:55 AM

One common theme I see among all these channels, they're not talking about why and how Clinton lost this election but how and why Trump's voters turned up and voted.

PilotMan 11-09-2016 01:55 AM

Don't think it's going to be the concession speech. Just going to tell everyone to go home.
