I don't remember if it has been said before in this thread, but David should get some credit for what he has accomplished. Sure it isn't an actual game and it isn't something that should be paid for, but to come up with a 3D thing that approximates football and as solo project is pretty impressive.

To get the requisite bashing in, I still laugh when I remember him saying that he did the spreadsheet programming thing back in the 90s and his "game" approximates football way better than it approximates math.

You do realize you just gave them the new tagline for the next M-F promo campaign.

Well, that was fun while it lasted...

Sounds like marauders decided to stop showing up when we realized he wasn't providing any actual information to show the game was good, because there is none.

Dammit wade, let's be realistic. It took a number of months for box art, so it has to be at least a couple of weeks before we see any screenshots. Don't give up hope yet. :D

I say let it go. This is beyond gratuitous. In case someone asks, no, I am no longer creating new games for Matrix, so there is no conflict of interest.


I think David Winter did a terrible job handling the criticism early on, but from what I have seen he seems to be busting his a$$ to make it right.

Call me sentimental, but I always root for the indie developers.

I bought it for $5 off of Ebay.

Worth the price just to be able to chronicle in this thread the epic statistical battle for longest passing touchdown in the one season I played.

Not only did he handle criticism poorly, but he shit over text sim developers (which would include you.) He is reaping what he sowed.

It has now been just about one full year since the game has been released, and it is still not in a state that a reasonable person would call ready for market. Unless that market is for uniform designers that want to make plays for teams that have no discernible difference in skills of players and no interest in long-term development of their teams and are happy with one-off single games played.

edit: and are happy waiting for 3rd party tools that might bring some semblance of balance and order, that probably never will come or be able to address the fundamental flaws in the design of the game

I need the help of some of you MF Thread addicts. Or rather the FOFC Wiki needs your help.

Over at the wiki there is a barebones summary of the thread. I think the wiki is the place to do the long desired index for this thread. I've posted a barebones outline of how it might be done. It would be great if some people could help flesh out what is a mighty pathetic page at the moment.

That thread only covers the media created in the first half of the thread. There are plenty more gems lurking in the MF thread than documented in that list.

BTW, I did ship someone my copy of M-F. A condition of the sale was that he produce another dynasty. Stay tuned.

I'll be starting my MAXIMUM DYNASTY sometime this weekend, maybe as early as tonight. I just need to find the latest patch, pds and fps patches and upgrades on the MAXIMUM FOOTBALL site.

Also uniforms. Can't forget the uniforms.

Don't forget the beer tent.

He's on Maximum Football schedule.

Which means we'll have that non-beta shot, oh, in 2011.
