Hall with an open mic...I might have to tune in for this. Even if he is sober he was always a bit of a loose cannon with a mic

I can't wait for it...

JonInMiddleGA 04-07-2014 08:06 PM

I may not give a shit about Lesnar, may not think it was a good business decision ... but Heyman is f'n owning the mic.

CU Tiger 04-07-2014 08:20 PM

Heyman is one of those guys who just grates my nerves. Much like Vicki Guerro (sp?) and not in a positive mad heat sort of way but rather in a change the channel cant stand the voice way.

I am sitting here doing Continuing Education on the laptop with the TV on for background noise and I had to mute the TV until that bit was done.

JonInMiddleGA 04-07-2014 08:31 PM

Meanwhile, Damian Sandow just got the sort of match that seems to precede being wished well in your future endeavors.

Walked out of the room.

Got pretty much squashed by RVD.

JonInMiddleGA 04-07-2014 09:05 PM

Helwig got through his promo reasonably well I thought. I mean, okay, it was kinda incoherent but in a controlled classic Ulti kind of way.

JonInMiddleGA 04-07-2014 10:09 PM

I believe that's what we call a face turn :)

Carman Bulldog 04-07-2014 10:21 PM

It won't ever happen, but I'd love to see a War Games match with Bryan and The Shield against Evolution/Authority.

BishopMVP 04-07-2014 10:31 PM

The only way this storyline can get better is if they make it a WarGames match.

Edit - Haha +1Carman

dubb93 04-07-2014 10:37 PM

Someone specifically said the word "War" regarding this feud tonight. I think it might have been Triple H. I assume everything Triple H says is said for a reason. Gives hope that maybe that match will be brought back.

I'm pretty sure HHH wanted to do a War Games match before but Vince wouldn't let him. I wanna say it was around 2003 or 4.

As someone who wasn't paying any attention during that period, what's the backstory on that? Why did WWE stop doing them?

It was a NWA/WCW idea.

WarGames match - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EDIT: WWE had them but they got renamed so they aren't 100% the same.

Vince McMahon hates the idea that someone else may have had a good idea. My time frame might be off anyway and it was probably closer to the timing of the first Elimination Chamber match.

SirFozzie 04-08-2014 11:10 PM

RIP the Ultimate Warrior.

it's kinda nuts that the day after three days in which he buried the hatchet permanently with WWE (the Hall of Fame, Wrestlemania and Monday Night Raw), this happens.

JonInMiddleGA 04-08-2014 11:26 PM

Just saw that :(

Rest in peace Jim Hellwig, you were truly one of a kind.

PilotMan 04-08-2014 11:35 PM

Holy shit was that anticipated?

molson 04-08-2014 11:39 PM

Here's his promo from just last night on RAW (complete with line about how "every man's heart will beat it's final beat.")

2014 WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior speaks: Raw, April 7, 2014 - YouTube

With hindsight, I guess, maybe he doesn't look so great here? (Edit: At about 3:00, he's completely out of breath - of course, it was a Warrior promo, so that can happen). He was a 54-year old guy, but if you look at his wikipedia photo and other recent photos - he doesn't look so great here by comparison. Could just be me seeing things that aren't there.

Given the solid appearances he made over WM weekend, that seems like a complete absolute "No".

And the wrestlers tweeting seem to be in utter & complete shock. This one in particular kinda choked me up

JonInMiddleGA 04-08-2014 11:53 PM

I don't want to read too much into anything so don't get me wrong here but his final promo is rather eerie to read in the wake of this news

SirFozzie 04-09-2014 12:03 AM

Looks like a heart attack.

Ultimate Warrior Dies -- Dead at 54 ... Collapsed at AZ Hotel | TMZ.com

“Officials tell TMZ … Warrior collapsed outside an Arizona hotel at 5:50 PM on April 8th … while walking to his car with his wife. Warrior was transported to a nearby hospital … where he was pronounced dead.”

jbergey22 04-09-2014 12:17 AM

Wow, very strange. He seemed very excited and was sweating a lot. But to imagine a short time later he would be dead is unthinkable. Seeing how his little girls responded to his speech on Saturday night at this point really saddens me. RIP Warrior.

Matthean 04-09-2014 02:39 AM

I think he was sweating a lot in the promo due to wearing a full business suit, a Warrior jacket, and trying to be the Warrior.

Lathum 04-09-2014 06:01 AM

When I was a kid and watched wrestling he was always my favorite. RIP.

BYU 14 04-09-2014 06:51 AM

Really shocking news, seemed like he always took care of himself after wrestling, but again it could have been brought about by the 80's wrestling lifestyle. Still way too young and I agree, his last promo was eerily prophetic.

RIP

SegRat 04-09-2014 08:38 AM

I'm glad he made it into the hall before his passing. He was my favorite wrestler as a kid. RIP Warrior.

Lathum 04-09-2014 10:46 AM

Any chance this is a publicity stunt fueled by McMahon?

No. The WWE is a publicly traded global billion-dollar company with many business relationships and sponors. And even back in their more rogue and independent days, they never faked a legit death to the news media. Or even really trolled the media at all.

Shawne Merriman, former member of San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills, joins WWE - ESPN

Toddzilla 04-13-2014 08:56 AM

I ran into Mark Canterbury this morning, a.k.a. Henry Godwin of the WWE. Super nice guy, eager to talk about his career and such. He's now happily married to a lady that lives in my town and they are working on building a house and moving back to West Virginia where he is from.

I wanted to mention that I remembered him more as Shanghai Pierce but totally forgot.

Well presumably you'll see him again...

Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate? | FiveThirtyEight

Put in this context, the Wrestlemania card was a bit jarring to me.

Toddzilla 04-22-2014 10:24 AM

Not lying, watching Bryan at the top of Raw looking to the heavens made me tear up. A lot. I'm glad they're writing him off for a while.

Clash of the Champions start to roll out on WWE Network this week. Clash 1 airs on Monday, Clash 2 on Tuesday. After all the Clash of the Champions have aired, Saturday Night's Main Event is next and will roll out in a similar structure apparently where they air on the Network and then are added to the VOD library.

molson 05-04-2014 01:50 PM

I've decided today is awesome Scott Steiner promo day.

Can't wait.

And here is my scott steiner promo

Suicane75 05-07-2014 12:21 AM

The best part about that Rollins jump was that Ambrose, Orton & HHH all went down the steps, and my buddy and I watching it were waiting for them to move back towards the stairs because we thought Rollins was going to do something, but they never got into position. So we waited and waited, and then boom, from a completely different direction and completely out of nowhere he takes them all out. Was awesome live.

RainMaker 05-07-2014 01:02 AM

It was awesome on TV too. No one saw it coming.

The Shield is great. All those guys should be stars someday.

Maple Leafs 05-07-2014 07:30 PM

That Rollins dive was so scary that I hear they're booking Daniel Bryan to spend the next RAW running away from it while crying.

RainMaker 05-07-2014 08:04 PM

The Daniel Bryan - Kane storyline is real bad.

Neuqua 05-07-2014 10:35 PM

It really is.

I wish Bryan wasn't such a "yes man" backstage and offered input on his character's storyline.

Suicane75 05-08-2014 12:33 AM

Every midcard, not quite who they wanted, world champion gets a program with Kane. It's a right of passage. One can only hope that a Brie/Kane wedding is set for the near future.

RainMaker 05-08-2014 01:09 AM

I don't have a problem with a program with Kane. Just the whole D-level scary movie plot is bad.

JonInMiddleGA 05-08-2014 05:34 PM
