I've had a lot of fun doing it, but it does eat up time right up front. You are fighting to get players, trying to get the team sorted out. It can devour your free time.

I've got a very active team, with players posting in the forum and helping find backups (and sometimes creating backups for positions nobody wants to play). If you get a good group of players, it can really be rewarding.

Dang SirFozzie, I just realized that you are the same person over in the thread I started over on the OO forums. :o I am Hrnac over there.

Their shitty servers actually helped me. I boosted my guy, spent his skill points, and when I hit submit, I got an error. So I try again, and I found that I got all my skill points back to spend, but some of the upgrades stuck, so I ended up getting 4 extra skill points.

Offer sent

JPhillips 03-27-2008 01:47 PM

Thanks guys. Larry's team looked pretty full so I went with Macro.

Everybody wants Houston Dicks.

JPhillips 03-27-2008 02:03 PM

It's actually the hyphenated last name of an attorney here in Crawfordsville and I thought it would make the perfect porn name.

IMetTrentGreen 03-27-2008 02:38 PM

Grand Junction dropped it's 5th straight. It was close, at least.

Alan T 03-27-2008 02:40 PM

I only played in 19 plays and we wern't as effective with our run defense because of it, it seems....

Larry was that because of a setting you did, or is it my energy level? I think I have to back off on the training even more.. to keep my energy up and see how that effects anything..

When I was in there for the 19 plays I did ok I guess from what i am seeing in the replay.. but I missed alot of time.

MacroGuru 03-27-2008 02:43 PM

Milan Dom just hit 6th level at SS for the Silverbacks

What was your energy setting before the game, do you know? I've been training on relaxed to get my energy up in the 90s and I've been playing more and more since then.

Mine was in the high 70s, low 80s.. which is why I'm wondering if even on normal training levels its costing me. I dropped my training down to relaxed and will see if that helps things for the next game.

Watching the replays, I could tell two things seemed to effect us a bit on the running game, it seemed like whomever was on LOLB was being blocked alot more or was just way out of position and I wasn't in as much which probably led to the extra blocking of the LB.

I guess I'm learning what the cost of extra training is during the season.

TazFTW 03-27-2008 02:54 PM

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=412197

My only tackle. FS DeMarcus Lott is now at Level 6.

That INT in the endzone hurts.

IMetTrentGreen 03-27-2008 02:56 PM

Looks like our entire second string defense played the last quarter and a half. MAybe we should figure out this stamina thing.

Alan T 03-27-2008 03:02 PM

I've been working on upping my stamina, am up to 23+ now which as far as I am told should be all I need for this point. I was planning on going back to working on Strength and tackling now, but this last game concerns me. I think you're right that my lack of playing time wasn't due to my stamina but instead due to my overworking the training previously.

I also think my not being in there as much effected the LB position as they were blocked alot more from the replays I watched and got less tackles, meaning the other team had longer runs as well.

I backed off my training to relaxed now which just means .39 stamina per day instead of .55 which isn't a huge deal I don't think, and am going to see how it works out next game if I feel I need to keep focusing on Stamina or not.

Shkspr 03-27-2008 03:06 PM

Damn. My first dropped pass of the season and it's right at the goal line. I catch that ball and maybe we're up 14-3 at the half. No wonder I got benched at the half. :)

By the way - Ash Williams on the other end? 8 pass deflections. Ouch.

Kodos 03-27-2008 03:11 PM

The formula is simple. Chuck Farley plays ---> The Gators win.

larrymcg421 03-27-2008 03:20 PM

As I posted in our team strategy forum, I changed the stamina settings so some backups could get playing time. Looks like they got too much playing time. I'll fix that for next week.

Eaglesfan27 03-27-2008 03:20 PM

I'm trying to figure out when Randall is getting on the field as I don't see him in the PbP log at all. I'm thinking it might be putting the backup QB on special teams. Shrug.

Do you have the option to set it position by position so you can allow human backups to play more, but not positions with CPU backups? Or is it very basic and non-flexible?

wade moore 03-27-2008 03:24 PM

w00t- Lowcountry 2-0 since FOFC took over.

Both tight wins, but they're wins nonetheless. I think SD has a good plan in place for our team.

wade moore 03-27-2008 03:26 PM

Oh - and Lowcountry played almost a full OT quarter (Gaming winning FG with 1:58) left - so my guys got a TON of XP. Looks like about 700 or so.

Unfortunately, it is one setting for all positions.

I don't know, might be ok. Swede was at 81% coming out of the game so, I think that you'd be able to get back to the 90's after rest. I'd think you'd want to be in the 75 range after a game.

13.8 ret average.

Now a level 6 FS...

IMetTrentGreen 03-27-2008 04:21 PM

I read two things on the forum:

1. One guy said that if you have less than 95 energy before a game you are doing your team a disservice. He offered no evidence or reason but I thought it was interesting.

2. The best stamina settings seem to be 60 out 0 in. I don't know what this means but two different people mentioned it as being acceptable.

Thats a good suggestion. With my current plan, I'll be exactly 95 energy before next game. I'll see how it compares to this one.

JeeberD 03-27-2008 04:29 PM

Woot, three receptions and the only TD of the day for TE Jeeber D Mack!

larrymcg421 03-27-2008 04:46 PM

I just created WR Bernard Blaze, a super fast (speed: 41) level 4 guy. I don't want to take up too many spots on my own team, but I'm willing to help out any FOFC'ers that might need a deep threat.

hawk4669 03-27-2008 05:03 PM

So, I've been pouring my training into strength and blocking...and notice I'm dropping at least one pass per game. My catching is over 20, and have points (sometimes two) in my special receiving ability.

Should I continue with the blocking path, or go more towards receiving as a TE?

Opinions welcome. ;)

Cheers!

JeeberD 03-27-2008 05:12 PM

I think you should quit training altogether. It's inevitable that Jeeber will become the starting TE... ;)

That is all.

You may not get blocking stats, but I think your blocking skill is apparent in the play by play. For example:

I signed up as a QB, Johnny Touchdown, and got to start 3 games for a computer team.
Not to bad so far. 4 td's and 2 int's.

A human owner picked up my team and benched me for a level 1 qb. I'm at level 3. Next day, the Chicago Staley's offer me 100,000 plus a 30,000 signing bonus for 2 years. All of a sudden, i'm rich!!!

Awesome

I don't think I have the mind set to be able to run a team. (However, I did go crazy today and create a whole bunch of players.) Being able to interact as an owner with that many players is beyond my introverted personality.

It probably does take quite a bit of time initially to get a team together. However, I did run across a user today that owns 3 teams, an American, Canadian, and Western Europian team which put me in awe of his free time. Has anyone seen a user who owns more than 3 teams?

So, your old team traded you to the Chicago team?

twothree 03-27-2008 11:27 PM

The highest salaries I have seen so far (I haven't really looked for them) is on the San Jose Spartans. One DE is making $178,000/season and is signed for 6 seasons. The team also has several other over $100,000/season players which is why I remember running across that team's roster.

Thanks for your offer, but before I could sign your deal my team was bought up. There are much better CPU players at SS on my team (now Tottenham Trolls), so I could be picking out the splinters for a while.
