2018 CINCINNATI REDS FANTASY FRANCHISE IN 2019
Follow me as I play a fantasy franchise with a revamped 2018 Reds team during the 2019 year. As I am not purchasing MLB The Show 2019 when it first comes out as I have for so many years before, if it all based on any changes or lack of changes as discussed on these thread boards.

I will be starting the Reds rebuild with some of my past favorite Reds and a few new Reds. Really not loading up with Superstar Free Agents or crazy trades.

Hope you enjoy the Reds journey...hopefully to a Reds Dynasty. Remember I did call this a Fantasy Franchise.

So since my last post about my 2019 Reds Fantasy Team, which still has not broke camp from Spring Training, I have figured a way to bring my All-Rookie Team from 2017 to 2018 and then play in 2019.

This team starts out as a 2017 Reds rebuild, in 2017 the Reds started acquiring rookies with no service time and held back their own prospects.
So now the start of 2018 (being played in MLBTS 19) the Reds do not have a single player in the majors or minors that has a single day of ... Read More

So the Reds travel all the way to Scottsdale from Goodyear, about 32 miles, to take on the San Francisco Giants. The Reds were 4 - 1, while the Giants were 1 - 4. Ace vs Ace, Luis Castillo would get his second start, as Mad Bum would take the rubber for the Giants.

GAME 6 vs SFG

PITCHING-
Luis Castillo would pitch 3 innings allowing 1 HIT 1 BB, allowing no runs.
Tim Adleman a non-roster invitee would pitch 2 scoreless innings while striking out 4 batters. ... Read More

So the Reds have played their first 5 Spring Training games and new manager David Bell got to see each of his expected starting pitchers pitch, even if it was just a couple of innings. So many new faces, old faces and faces that were once familiar and who are back again.

I will be playing All-Star Pitching and All-Star Batting, I struggled last year on All-Star with batting but did okay with pitching. I have switched from Zone Batting to Directional and seem to be hitting the ball ... Read More

So again, I am getting a late start to my fantasy franchise. I was holding off, hoping SDS would fix the missing pitcher's hitting stats for carryovers, but 12 patches later still not corrected. So I came up with a little roster manipulation to use a 2019 OSFM roster in 2019 and still have my rookies.

Admittedly, I had to make a lot of roster move and tried to keep it fair, obviously no real superstars were stolen, except Ohtani who I actually acquired in trade in 2018, but mostly ... Read More

2017 REDS FANTASY FRANCHISE

After splitting the first home-stand series with Milwaukee, the Reds got a day off, then played their first interleague series with the Baltimore Orioles. The Reds were (8-5) and 3 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central. The Orioles (4-7) and 3.5 back of the Yankees.

GAME 1

CIN - Sonny Gray (1-0) vs BAL - Dylan Bundy (0-1)

SP Sonny Gray would start out the game pitching well, only giving up 1 run in the first ... Read More

The Reds made it home from their 6 game road trip and are 6 and 3, they start a 10 game home stand, 4 vs MIL, 3 vs BAL, and 3 vs the Cubs.

Game 1

CIN - SP Mike Leake (0-0) vs MIL - SP Matt Garza

SP Mike Leake gets the start versus Milwauke, Leake went 7 innings last time out against the St. Louis with a no-decision. Things started off shaky for the Reds as,the Brewers would score early on Leake by scoring 2 in the top of the 1st and another run in the ... Read More

2017 REDS FANTASY FRANCHISE

TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS...

Ownership and manager Rocco have decide to try something different, both feel it is a shame that there are some veteran players that are in Triple A that can play and be supportive bench players, but may be blocked by guys on the Major League team. These are guys who probably could make another big league team, but like being part of the Reds organization and want to be part of the new RED'S DYNASTY (Hopefully). ... Read More

2017 REDS FANTASY FRANCHISE

So after a really close game 3 in St. Louis that went 13 innings, the boys had to head directly to the airport for their flight to Pittsburgh. Manager Rocco Baldelli mentioned to ownership that the guys were disappointed that they were not able to get to The Landing and had hoped to grab a good meal to celebrate. So ownership called up the Trainwreck Saloon and ordered Bison Burgers and hot wings for everybody and had it delivered right to the tarmac where ... Read More

2017 REDS FANTASY FRANCHISE

So Rocco and the Reds traveled to St. Louis for a 3 game series. The Reds (3-0) swept the Phillies in their home opener, while St. Louis (0-3) dropped all 3 against the Cubs.

RECAP: Started off against the Phillies with Dynamic Difficulty setting on lowest settings as I was just starting a new franchise team. Decided to bump the setting to All-Star in pitching and hitting. Oh boy, this has been tough for me.

GAME 1:

Wow, so many posts to catch up on, cool!

So as I stated before MLB 18 has been shelved and my Reds Fantasy Franchise is now being played on MLB 17. Almost the exact team. We made it through Spring Training a little quicker this time as we Quick Managed all games by simming batter by batter. The Reds completed Spring Training with a 18 and 12 record, hey I know Spring Training doesn't count, but these are the Reds we are talking about!

So the 2017 Reds start the season ... Read More

So with only 4 games left in Spring Training, Reds management got fed up with the glitches it was experiencing during game play. It is a shame, yes MLB 18 is graphically better than MLB 17, but I feel 17 is a better game-play. So I wiped my PS4 clear of everything 18. I was just going to resume one of my old 17 franchises but enjoy posting here about the goings on in my game. So I rebuilt a new MLB 17 Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Franchise, it is nearly the same as the MLB 18 version, same back story ... Read More

So I have not been feeling all that well that last week or so, still got some games played, either Quick Managed or actually played. Will not go into a lot of detail, but will post results.

So still in Spring Training, and the Reds are on a 3 game losing streak...Ughh!

March 6th 2018 - Reds acquired 2B Kristopher Negron from Arizona for LF C.J. McElroy, Negron is a former Red and an all around utility player who will start out in AAA.

More Spring Training From Goodyear, AZ.

After the win against the Cubs, the Reds continued their winning ways at home vs Kansas City.

A Quick Manage game where I simmed each at bat, the Reds won 5-1. LRP Homer Bailey got the start going 3 innings and getting the Win. SP Mike leake came in in relief going four strong inning allowing no runs. The Reds got 9 hits and struck out 7, not too bad for a sim. Even though it is just Spring Training, Top Prospect, Senzel went ... Read More
