Kobe midrange jumshot rating?
Posted on September 27, 2011 at 09:12 PM.
I need the email for the clown who put Kobe's midrange at 78. Before you comment please look at everyones midrange rating and tell me how sick 2K is for some of these midrange jumpshot ratings.

Meant to say ratings are NOT determined by comparison to others.

I worship Kobe Like a God ( i am not lying something is wrong with me in the head i think) but he deserves the 78 rating. he did not shoot well last season whether you want to contribute that to his knee or his finger or both. Its time to face the facts. As much as i love him Kobe is getting up there in years. he just turned 33 he has been in the league for 16 years if you counting the upcoming season. His body has taken a lot of beatings and regardless of how good his knees feel they are sitll a question mark considering the thousands upon thousands of miles he has logged on them. Am i saying he is done? Absolutely not he still has a couple of season's where he'll be an all star. But is he slowing down? yes he is. It happens to every player.

Too bad there probably won't be a season so he's stuck at where he is.

nice good arguments on the first page ..... (really nice)

but i think kobes Midrange is indeed a little of i would say 80-85

While the argument about stats and numbers counting for something the bottom line is the game of basketball isn't always about numbers. Kobe is my favorite player in the world but I can say he doesn't always take the best shots and especially from Mid range. I do however have a problem with JR Smith getting a 91. Thats 2 high for a guy who comes off the bench and is an inconsistent defender and shooter. Super freaky athlete but not on the level of Kobe and Wade. He's not elite!

I agree fully, but stats are facts that back up our opinions or let us know how wrong and biased we are at times. Some people can't objectively debate their favorite teams or players, they always overrate them. On the flipside some haters can't be objective either, to me stats correct inaccurate analysis of players. Numbers do not lie!

On Jr Smith, not sure I'd rate him 91a either. But I need to see his full ratings and some stats to even pass it judgement. I can say this, he is not your typical 6th man. Probably would start on all but a few teams in the league. I always thought the only thing keeping him from being a 2nd or 3rdthe tier star

Star in this league was : playing time and being an idiot lol.

kobe mid should be at least a 85

honestly a 78 is kinda low for Kobe. like most guys who are posting on this forum 2k is using all stats to determine their ratings, and not actual ability. Any idiot can look at stats and assume all types of things, but the facts dont come unless you KNOW the game. Kobe almost NEVER takes an uncontested jumpshot. He's the best player on the team, so his open looks rarely come. 2k should take than into consideration when giving midrange ratings. lesser players get open looks all the time because of players like Kobe, Lebron, Dirk etc. as well as taking way less attempts; And because of that, they will shoot a higher percentage from midrange, not because they can necessarily shoot better. Kobe's midrage should AT LEAST be an 83-87

This is how I feel about this:

In 2k, to me, it's always been 75+ is money.

People compare JR's Midrange or Juwon's midrange. But with Kobe you could ostensibly run in circles and fire a fade away and have about the same chance of making a wide open feet set jumper with Juwon.

You see what I mean?

It's hilarious how style and swag can delude people from reality. If you actually want it to be realistic, Kobe's overall should be 90 at most with his speed, defence and layups lowered by alot. Since when was Kobe a decent shooter? Oh right..those 81pts, some consecutive 40/50pt games, that clutch shot against the Suns lol. First of all, that's the past. Secondly, his good games were against the worst teams with ****ty defence. Lastly, what about the rest of the games? Wasn't he shooting like 33%(9/27) most of the times? and how's Kobe's performance in the playoffs and finals.. Seriously, when will you fanboys quit smoking weed, get out of the fantasy, wake up and actually see the truth? I mean how does he have a 99 layup LOL. Well since there are numerous Kobe fanboys out there(thanks to China), 2K went easy on his ratings and made him a 94 overall so stop whining. In fact, you guys should thank 2K and bow them for making Afro Kobe.

@ILLSmak- that's what I was getting at, you explained it much better though.

Honestly stats lie all the time. Dwight Howard can come out next season, shoot 1 3 pointer, make it, and his % will be 100, would that really warrant a high rating in the game?

Point being, Kobe's whole game is based in the mid-range, he shoots much more from there than almost anybody else in the league, it's going to skew his stats a little bit, not to mention that he does take difficult shots sometimes. But there's absolutely no way his mid range shot is anything less than a 90, I don't care what numbers you want to crunch!
