After the Storm – Week 9

Positive

So many things we can talk about in the NFL but this is a Fantasy Sports site so we will stick to news about yesterday’s games that relate to Fantasy Football. So where do we start? How about Peyton Hillis. I am sure many of you remember Hillis playing for the Denver Broncos, Mike Shanahan loved this guy. He was drafted in the 7th Round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Same year Felix Jones and Darren McFadden came in to the league. Funny thing is Jones and McFadden have 4 TD’s combined Hillis has 7.

After a big injury in 2008, a new coach Josh McDaniels showed up in Denver and decided that he would not need to use Hillis much which can be clearly reflected in the stats. Hillis only had 13 attempts, 54 yards and 1 TD in 2009. Now enter 2010, clearly he wasn’t valuable enough to keep so they traded him to the Browns for Brady Quinn.

Now we are in week 10 and Peyton Hillis is having a stellar season with his Fantasy value is rising every week. Meanwhile Brady Quinn has started, let me think 1..2..3, ZERO times!!! Hillis is not a fast player but let me see you try to bring him down. Clearly Peyton Hillis is one of the great Fantasy Football stars of 2010

Negative

I remember how everyone was talking about the Fantasy juggernaut the Dallas Cowboys would be this season. The running game was supposed to be one of the best in the league. They had a 3-headed monster that would never get tired and wear down teams. Finally, they would play the Superbowl at home. Now we are close to the end of Week 9 and Romo is out and the running game has never taken off. I really don’t blame the players, I blame the pass happy coaches.

Jason Garrett was supposed to be an up and coming offensive coordinator who would take over the reins once Wade Phillips was gone but Jason has shown that he cannot run a balanced attack. How you can have Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice and not be able to get it in from the 2 yard line is crazy. It happens when your OC decides to pass on 1st and 2nd down. Then you just have no choice but to pass on 3rd down. I am sure the Fantasy Football owners of these RB’s are screaming at their screen all game long. I can hear them now RUN THE BALL, RUN THE BALL, RUN THE BALL but it all falls on deaf ears. Instead Jason hears Pass the ball with 50 yr old Kitna as many times as possible and make sure you Roy Williams a shot, he will drop anyway but he will be happy.

If Dallas would have stuck to the basic principles of the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE three things would have happened:

1. They would have a better record
2. Tony Romo would not be injured
3. Most important – Fantasy Football Dallas RB owners would ecstatic
