Wigginton Wins Game in Bottom of the 9th

Ty Wiggington watches his game winning HR in the 9th

Baltimore, MD It was exciting to start and ended much that same. Behind Ty Wiggington's late inning heroics provided the Baltimore Orioles with the run they would need to win their game against the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6. The win moved the Orioles to 4-1 on the young season. Wigginton's efforts were needed when starter David Hernandez couldn't protect the 6-2 lead he was spotted.

With the game tied at 6 in the bottom of the 9th. Having been that way since the middle of the 4th inning Wiggington touched a hanging slider from pitcher Jeremy Accardo and promptly deposited it into the left field bleachers it was Wigginton's 2nd hit of the night and won him player of the game honors.

Making his Oriole debut after winning the 5th spot in the rotation, Hernandez was roughed up for 6 earned runs in only 3 innings of work. Mark Hendrickson came in to relieve Hernandez and worked 4.2 innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6. It would be Matt Albers who would pick up the win. "Mark was awesome today. He came in and threw strikes and kept the pen from having to work to hard." Trembley added during his post game interview session.

Toronto strong contributions at the plate from Lyle Overbay who drove in 2 and added a HR, along with Edwin Encarnacion who also drove in 2 and also had a homerun.

The series concludes tomorrow afternoon when Kevin Millwood faces off against Rick Romero.

Ha.. My bullpen is killing me. Yankees just kicked me in the nuts.

You're in a tough tough division.
