Getting MLB: The Show done right by 2015
Posted on November 4, 2012 at 08:33 PM.
Figuring it will take Bud Selig a few years to get a playoff format he likes, I hope the following are possible for "MLB: The Show '15."

--Playoff options, because you know Bud's replacement will change his mind.

--Connectivity improvements, not only with game servers, but with users and sites like Operation Sports. By 2015, we should be able click "Add to Dynasty Blog" or whatever to automatically upload to our own sites.

--Dynasty improvements that allow for expansion. I'd suggest an option to add one AL and one NL team after every four years a dynasty runs. So in 2020, we could add say Charlotte to the AL East and Sacramento to the NL West. By 2030, we now have three, six team divisions in each league.

That shouldn't dilute the pitching too much - and everything could be customizable. Reward the true dynasty freaks (those who actually play 90 percent of their team's games) with better tools to customize the expansion teams, from uniforms to stadiums to better player selection for expansion drafts.

--Ease of simulation - I don't want to go through a whole offseason of clicking "no" to stop simulating for every important date. Ditto for the regular season and make minor leaguers on the 40-man roster available for call-up on Sept. 1, not when the minor league playoffs start.

--Ethnic equality. Base new players based on where real players come from, then have the computer predict different models. Will the plan to bring baseball to American inner cities pay off? Will the Asian influence remain strong? Will countries such as New Zealand, Australia and/or South Africa ever see some of their brilliant athletes play MLB?

--While we're at it, give all new players a different stance and some batting gloves so we don't have to change it every time. Dump the all-gray newcomer cleats as well. Mine as well add magnetic necklaces and tattoo options.

Well, that's a start. Get on it, San Diego Studios.
